When it's scorching outside, lots of folks grab cooling treats. But guess what? Spicy food can actually help you feel cooler! Sounds wild, right? It might seem backwards, but munching on capsaicin (that's the stuff that makes chillies hot) kicks off a body reaction that makes you sweat, and sweating, my friends, helps cool you down. We measure how fiery things are using the Scoville scale, which tells us how much capsaicin is packed into those Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
